NBC’s ‘The Voice’ finale: Watch Chris Jamison’s ‘Velvet’ music video

Chris Jamison -Ladies and gentlemen, we bring you quite possibly one of the raciest coronation singles in music-show history. Chris Jamison first performed “Velvet” on the performance show for “The Voice” on Monday night, and it will probably make his family feel very awkward when they are listening to it.

Still, we feel like this is the sort of song that really could perform very well in the right radio market, even if this is not the song itself that does it. The Justin Timberlake comparisons make a little bit of a sense, and it is somewhat funny that JT cleared “Cry Me a River” for him tonight, or his people did. Either way, it’s not a song that is cleared very often.

This song will get a chance to shine on iTunes, and the real question you have to wonder at the moment is fairly simple: Is this track too racy for its own good? Will some of the younger or the more conservative fans of the show pick it up? We say this given that Craig Wayne Boyd got to #2 last week singing what is basically an on church hymn.

Now that we’ve said all of this, we feel like Chris is going to be just fine at the end of the day. He is the most marketable of any of the stars that NBC has on the show this year. He has a good voice, but he sings pop music, has a swagger, and with the right connections, could really work in the industry.
