‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 reaction: Andrew Lincoln on Rick’s killing spree
Sunday night’s episode of “The Walking Dead” contained quite a few surprises, but to us, there was no larger one than seeing Andrew Lincoln turn into John Rambo for one of the craziest scenes on the entire show. Thanks to Rick Grimes, all of Terminus that we can think of is gone completely. This includes Gareth, who we thought at one point was about to become the next Governor.
Due to this change, much of the rest of the season becomes a mystery, and we suppose that there is a certain amount of excitement with that … but even Lincoln himself admits that this twist regarding Terminus and his character’s killing ways caught him off-guard. Speaking in a new story from TV Guide, the actor had the following message to pass along:
“When I read the premiere episode, I was so surprised that we got out of [Terminus] that quickly. I think there was a decision made in the writers’ room that was, ‘Let’s push it on.’ … It gave this kinetic energy to the show and the audience can be shocked by what just happened in the way that Maggie and Glen are. You see it on their faces. They don’t recognize this [Rick]. A lot of people didn’t witness me biting a man’s throat out. They don’t know that Rick is here yet.”
While rescuing Beth is the priority for some, for others it will be trying to make it to Washington DC to solve the zombie epidemic once and for all. Of course, this is entirely dependent on whether or not Eugene actually knows anything, and that has not exactly been confirmed just yet.
