‘The Bachelorette’ notes: Talking Andi Dorfman, Josh Murray, Nick Viall

Usually, the weekend is traditionally when we get a great opportunity to talk about all sorts of great stuff when it comes to “The Bachelorette,” but it is certainly fair to say that this weekend is a little different than most. Why is that? It simply comes down to the fact that there is no new episode on ABC Monday night.

Ultimately, the powers that be over at Disney thought that it would be an interesting idea to give us an interview featuring Hillary Clinton rather than the continued adventures of Andi Dorfman. If we are talking about an event of historical significance, there is no question that a woman who could run for President is far more important that some guys getting roses from a woman they’ve known for a few weeks. With that being said, it is interesting from a business standpoint that ABC did not want to put this interview on a night that would not screw up their schedule and one of the hit show’s ratings.

We mentioned this in the podcast recently, but the network is not doing Andi’s show any favors when it comes to ratings right now. The premiere aired against “The Voice” and some finales, and then the second episode aired on Memorial Day, a notoriously bad night for ratings. Then, you had the third episode on a Sunday against a ton of other things, and also the possibility that casual viewers forgot about it. This past episode was the first time that the show had a reasonably normal night, but even that had the fatigue of being four hours of this show in two days. That is a ton of TV. Now, you have to wait more than a week for more.

So in order to keep you patient and engaged, we suggest, especially if you want to see this show merged with “America’s Funniest Home Vidoes,” you perhaps take a minute to enjoy this Instagram video of Josh Murray accidentally delivering a crotch shot to Nick Viall. Somehow, we missed this during the episode on Monday night, and feel like Nick deserves a rose just for going through that.
