ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6, episode 22 video: Stana Katic’s Beckett vs. Vulcan Simmons

“Castle” is not going to be wasting a whole lot of time during next week’s episode getting to the meat of the story, and we’re specifically referring here to an old villain resurfacing in Vulcan Simmons. We last saw him in “The Belly of the Beast,” where it was revealed that he is funding the campaign for Senator Bracken to reach a higher office.

So is Stana Katic’s Beckett about to finally take this guy down a notch or two? Not so fast. As awesome as this would be to watch her fianlly defeat this guy, there is a pretty substantial problem made apparent in the first sneak peek from this episode: She doesn’t have the leverage. Namely, she doesn’t have the proper warrant that she would need to actually take him down. Vulcan is not only a very dangerous man, he is also an exceptionally smart one. He knows when he has the upper hand, and also when he can exploit this power even more.

The other problem that Beckett is going to be facing in dealing with this guy at any point in the near future is motivation. Namely, everyone knows that she hates Bracken, and that there is a vendetta between her and Vulcan. If she does anything wrong or in violation of the regulations of being a detective, it will be blamed in a split-second on the history that she has and her obvious desire to solve the case of her mother’s death in full. She basically knows all of the answers right now, but there is a difference between knowledge and then justice.
