‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 spoilers: Are the people at Terminus cannibals? Exec explains

More news -There have been quite a few theories around what is going on at Terminus since the moment it first appeared on “The Walking Dead” season 4, but one of the most common ones came straight out of the comics: These people are all cannibals, tricking humans to arrive at their camp only to later cook them and eat them.

During the finale, there were a few little hints that this could be true, with the most obvious one being the bones. But why eat humans when there is other wildlife out there? The only way that we can explain this is that maybe, this is a way for Gareth and company to say safe and free of walkers, while still getting nutrients from those they trick to come to their “sanctuary” from the outside world.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter on this subject, all showrunner Scott Gimple would say on some of the theories is the following:

“I don’t believe we’ve totally, completely, definitively described or illustrated those people as cannibals. They’re up to no good, but I saw no people being eaten. There are absolutely piles of human bones there. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they ate those people. People have died there, and they are up to awful things there; whether or not it’s cannibalism, we’ll find out pretty quickly. That episode does not definitively tell you whether or not they’re cannibals.”

The decision is still being made about whether or not season 5 will begin with a time jump, and Gimple and creator Robert Kirkman both are being extremely coy when it comes to the fate of a number of characters. Carol and Tyreese are still out there in the wild (which could be a good thing for the other people at Terminus), and Beth is still completely unaccounted for. It’s possible that she is already dead, but we tend to operate under the rule that if you haven’t been killed on camera, odds are you are probably still alive.
