MTV’s ‘Awkward’ season 4 spoilers: Breakups, hookups, and more in first trailer

“Awkward” season 4 is going to premiere on MTV come Tuesday, April 15, but just in case you were worried for whatever reason that the show was not going to be delivering the good stuff anymore with new showrunners and a new focus on senior here, don’t be. The trailer below should stifle some of your concerns, mostly because it reminds us almost right away of everything that the show does right. It’s funny, offbeat, and also snarky. Not only that, but it shows once again that the cast of characters are in a constant state of flux.

First of all, you have a Jenna Hamilton who is happy and confident again, and ready to kick off her senior year in style. The twist / the problem? She is still hooking up with Matty, and this is becoming a sophomore year problem all over again. Eventually, she will be able to move on to other guys, which could in turn make Matty jealous. We really don’t mind any of this too much, even if it is formulaic. Why? It’s all because there has always been a good bit of comedy to be mined from Jenna’s hookups.

Also, get ready to see some more trouble from Jake and Tamara, an arrival of a new girl to Palos Hills that stirs up some controversy, and Sadie of course still being Sadie. Unfortunately, what you are not going to see is any more Ming, as the character has been written off the show.
