‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9, episode 13: An air date, other ‘Bass Player Wanted’ hints
For a long time, “Bass Player Wanted” was a “How I Met Your Mother” episode without an air date, or really a proper place in the lineup of episodes. It’s been swapped around so many times that you’d think it was some sort of unwanted White Elephant Christmas gift.
But the reality here is that this is an episode that you should be falling all over yourselves to check out. Not only is this the fall finale airing on December 16, think about that title for a second. The Mother is playing in the wedding band, which means that in theory, this could be an opportunity to really see more of her than we have to date. Does this mean that she’ll meet Ted? Hardly, but we do at least know that she could probably meet Robin at some point by the end of this. She’s already met Barney, and we can’t wait to see the look on his face when he finds out that the woman performing at his wedding is also the woman that previously helped to encourage him to follow his heart and (cue the “aws”) get the woman of his dreams.
While it’s not confirmed that the mother is for sure meeting anyone, co-creator Craig Thomas wrote the following message on Twitter tonight after likely getting some flak that tonight’s episode “The Rehearsal Dinner” was a giant letdown:
“Folks are asking if The Mother is in the next new #HIMYM. I could say “No spoilers.” Or I could just say, “Yes. A LOT.””
This is great news in that it adds to her overall episode count substantially, but at the same time, don’t take this as any sort of proof that she will be in every episode from here on out … mostly because that is not the case. But she does have at least a couple more memorable installments before meeting Ted, including episode #200, “How Your Mother Met Me.” That episode airs in late January, and should be a big one.
