‘Franklin & Bash’ season 4 official; TNT finally renews series
TNT has finally ended the extensive waiting period of the future of “Franklin & Bash.” Is it canceled? Hardly. Instead, the show and its devoted following can celebrate the show coming back for a fourth season.
Most of the other shows on the network had their fate determined a little bit earlier in the year, but there was obviously some debate back and forth as to if it was the right decision to give the show another go. After all, TNT has some ambitious new series coming up in “Legend” starring Sean Bean, “The Last Ship” starring Eric Dane, and “Lost Angels,” the much-anticipated new drama from Frank Darabont (“The Walking Dead’s” original showrunner) that is going to hopefully give the network a little bit more of a presence come awards night. Having another show to go along with “Dallas,” “Rizzoli & Isles,” “Major Crimes,” “Perception,” and many of the other series was not necessarily something that they had to have.
So why was this decision to keep the show made? We see there being two reasons why. First of all, it’s just a solid performer, and you need a few shows like that for the sake of risk prevention. In case all of the new shows end up bombing in the next year or so, they need some other programs to fall back on. Also, you have to wonder whether or not the uncertain future of “Rizzoli & Isles” also played a role in this. There was the tragic death of Lee Thompson Young earlier this year, and also the exit of the show’s creator. Showrunner shifts are often a pretty risky thing, and not all of them work like when Glen Mazzara took over for Darabont on “The Walking Dead.”
Are you happy to hear this news, and do you think that there is any way that “Franklin & Bash” lasts beyond this fourth season? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below!
