‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 6: Maggie Siff, Katey Sagal on Charlie Hunnam, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’
Even though Charlie Hunnam has yet to even film one second of the upcoming “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, that is not stopping any of his “Sons of Anarchy” co-stars right now from singing his praises while he continues to film seasons for the FX drama’s current (and rather explosive) sixth season.
One person who knows especially what it is like to be known for an iconic role is Katey Sagal, who was known by millions as Peg Bundy (despite being a musician long before that) prior to any of the other work that has since followed it. She obviously knows a thing or two about devoted followings thanks to both that show and this one, and speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she praised Charlie for being bold enough to take this part on (while adding a little bit of humor to boot):
“I’m really proud of him. The choice was not an obvious one for him. But for good or bad, he will throw himself 100 percent in. I don’t know if I want to see all that, but maybe.”
Meanwhile, a woman who has done her fair share of steamy scenes with Hunnam in Maggie Siff (Tara) also had a message of her own to share:
“When he told me that it was happening or that he was considering it I just howled. I mean I think we all did. We’re all like, what? And then I talked to him seriously about it. I think he’s very brave to do it. He doesn’t do anything unless he feels it deep down. He’s not going to do something because all of his agents are telling him to do something. That’s what makes me think it stands a chance of being really, really great. If he has that conviction going in, then you know it’ll be great.”
Already this year, we have heard stories about the show’s set becomingly slightly more inundated with fans than usual, about a larger paparazzi premise (which is never good for those of us who want to actually avoid accidental spoilers), and also about women sending Charlie their underwear. We don’t know what in the world he is going to do with the underpants of strangers, but we suppose that this is more of a “to each its own” sort of situation.
While the “Fifty Shades of Grey” franchise is not exactly everyone’s cup of tea, it’s easy to be happy for Charlie, a guy who is getting some sort of recognition of his talent now after being constantly overlooked by the Emmys year after year. He’s got multiple movies to share here alongside Dakota Johnson, and also another season of “Sons of Anarchy” to start filming next year. (We can only imagine what that set is going to look like.)

Update: Hunnam has quit the movie in a shocking move. Read up about it here.
