‘We Are Men’ canceled by CBS, ‘Mike & Molly’ to re-enter schedule on November 4

Was CBS ever really interested in giving “We Are Men” much of a chance to succeed? The thing about this freshman show was that the pilot was available online to viewers for weeks before the debut, so technically, it has only aired one episode without some sort of pre-viewing; apparently, that was still enough for the network to send it packing, even though they have a lower-rated show on Mondays in “Hostages,” and in spite of the fact that every other “big four” network on TV at the moment has a lower-rated new comedy that is still on the schedule.

What are we trying to say? Basically, it feels that CBS was never really that excited about the show in the first place, and was happy to kick it to the curb the moment that they realized that the ratings were not up to par. This is the second straight 8:30 comedy to be canceled, as “Partners” was in the same situation last year after “How I Met Your Mother.”

The plan, starting on November 4, is for “Mike & Molly” to come back in the 9:00 p.m. time slot, while “2 Broke Girls” will be bumped up to 8:30 and “Mom” will stay put in the 9:30 spot. Ironically, neither one of these comedies has been faring very well this season either, with “2 Broke Girls” perhaps being the biggest letdown since it originally felt like it was going to be the network’s big “Two and a Half Men” sort of comedy.

Until the time in which “Mike & Molly” returns to TV, “The Big Bang Theory” will air reruns after “How I Met Your Mother,” and probably draw better ratings than the majority of what is actually on the network.
