Stephen Colbert celebrates long-awaited Emmy win, tries to make Jon Stewart feel bad (video)
While we understand that there were travel considerations to take into effect, it was still somewhat of a bummer to have to wait until last night to see Stephen Colbert’s “character” celebrate the Emmy win on “The Colbert Report” Tuesday. While he was kind and gracious on the actual awards-show telecast, this was his opportunity to be much more bold and obnoxious. Plus, it was an opportunity to completely rub his victory in the face of Jon Stewart.
You see, “The Daily Show” had itself a little bit of a streak in that it had won the Variety Series trophy for literally a decade straight before finally losing to Stephen, and he was so happy about being the one to take this away from Jon that he decided to call him up personally and rub it in his face.
However, there were a couple of little wrinkles in this plan.
1. Jon was not even remotely upset about losing the award; he was happy for Stephen, and the work that he has put in.
2. Nobody on Jon’s staff was upset about losing, given that they had remained on top for so long. We also imagine that him not even being on the air during the summer voting period helped to sway voters that much more.
3. In the end, Stewart really had a good reason to not care about Stephen’s win. Why? Without giving too much away, it was more or less just like he won, anyway.

In the end, we like to think that we are all winners based on some of the great stuff Colbert did this year, in particular that Daft Punk video.
