‘The Following’ season 2 spoilers: First look at Kevin Bacon’s next adventure

The latest -“The Following” season 2 may not be back on Fox again until early next year, but why not scare up a little bit more action now? This is where we hope that the first promotional photo for the new season comes into play.

As you can see in this photo, a pair of characters that you would originally perceive to be allies (mostly because they were during the first season are going to suddenly be at odds). Who are we talking about here? It’s none other than Ryan and Mike! One year will have passed since the events at the end of season 1, and something takes place that puts Kevin Bacon and Shawn Ashmore’s characters at odds while at a crime scene in New York City.

While this show certainly has a reputation for itself these days for being at times ridiculously violent, the goal this season is to not necessarily one-up that. Rather executive producer Marcos Siega tells TV Guide that the hope here is to actually produce a season of the show that is a little bit more thought-provoking, and not as focused on giving us violence topped with more violence:

“Certain elements won’t be there anymore … So we’re free to explore more character moments. It’s going to be really interesting to get into that stuff.”

Granted, it is hard to expect that Joe Carroll is gone forever. Since James Purefoy is returning for season 2, we expect to see him in more than just flashback sequences.

What do you think is going to happen this season, and is there anything that you are particularly excited about? Be sure to share your thoughts below, and click here if you do want to read some more news when it comes to “The Following.”
