‘Once Upon a Time’ season 3 spoilers: Giancarlo Esposito paves his way back

Once Upon a TimeFor those of you who love a little bit of Giancarlo Esposito in your life, big news: The former “Breaking Bad” star has signed on to appear in at least one or two of the early episodes of “Once Upon a Time” season 3!

According to TVLine, the actor (who is currently a part of the “Revolution” cast) will be turning up to hopefully provide some more information on a story that began back in the first season, when his love for the Evil Queen led to him taking the fall for many actions that she was in fact guilty of. He’s since been locked up, and it will be interesting to see what becomes of Sidney Glass now … at least if we end up seeing him.

What makes Esposito unique on this show is that he is playing a total of three separate roles, whether it be the genie, the magic mirror, or the newspaper editor in Storybrooke. Therefore, it’s hard to say just which identity we will end up seeing here. Storybrooke could be where he actually is most needed now, at least based on the fact that Belle (Emilie de Ravin) is one of the few major characters left in the town, and Meghan Ory (Red) will see her story limited thanks to her role on CBS’ upcoming “Intelligence.”

Ultimately, we just hope that Esposito’s character does not die (especially by having half his face blown off for a second time), given that we’d like to see him get some more screen time in the future. Plus, the “Revolution” ratings may not be too great this fall without “The Voice” as a lead-in … which could mean that he would be able to return for a larger story later (not that we’re actually wishing bad things upon his full-time job).

What’s your reaction to having more Giancarlo? If you want to read some more news related to “Once Upon a Time” and Lana Parrilla, you can do so over here.
