‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: More official premiere details on Deb, Batista
Just how much will “Dexter” have changed when season 8 picks back up? Well, there will be two series regulars who now have new jobs, a new killer on the loose, and a man who was once considering retirement is going to have a new purpose to continue.
With the official synopsis for the June 30 episode “A Beautiful Day” (written by executive producer Scott Buck), we now know the official connection that Sean Patrick Flanery’s character has to the rest of the cast. Not only that, but it answers the question of where the pieces were going to fall into place when it comes to the Miami Metro hierarchy:
“It’s been 6 months since LaGuerta’s murder – and Dexter is still managing life as a dad, brother, and serial killer. Debra now works as a PI for a private firm and Batista has replaced her as Lieutenant. Meanwhile, Miami Metro investigates the murder of a man who has had pieces of his brain removed.”
First of all, can we say that Batista as lieutenant is a long time coming? In a show that is filled with so much darkness, we view him as the closest thing the show has to a real hero, and we hope that this story really gives him a prominent role this year rather than just making it all about Dexter and Deb. As for Deb’s new job, this cannot be good given that PIs are not forced to have the same sort of restrictions as a police officer, which to us means one thing and one thing only: Trouble for everyone this devastated woman comes into contact with.
Are you ready for “Dexter” to start back up? We know that we are. If you want to check out the title for the show’s series finale (yep, start tearing up now), our suggestion is to head on over to the link here.
