‘American Idol’: Select tour dates for Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, others canceled
There’s some more bad news breaking now when it comes to the future of the “American Idol” concert tour: Nine dates of the previously-scheduled nationwide event have been canceled, meaning that the show will now have 30 venues in which to perform in around North America, which is significantly lower than in most other years. The cities impacted include St. Louis, Oakland, Detroit, Minneapolis, Tulsa, and many others that ran from June 29 to July 14. (One date in here, originally set for Rosemont, Illinois, was changed to Trenton, New Jersey and will happen later in the summer.)
So what is the reason for the cancellations? It really depends on who you ask? According to a statement from tour organizers, (via The Hollywood Reporter), there were last-minute production scheduling changes that caused a problem, which we personally believe could include work on winner Candice Glover’s debut album (though this could have also been done on the road).
However, there could be another interesting argument made that part of the problem here is simply that ticket sales are likely down. Neither Glover nor runner-up Kree Harrison sold a substantial amount of copies of their coronation singles, especially in comparison to Phillip Phillips and the behemoth that was “Home.” The last season to have tour dates cancelled was season 9, and it had much stronger single sales. While Candice and Kree may be phenomenal singers, the myriad of other misgivings with “American Idol” this year, from a bad judging panel to repetitive song choices, really seemed to do the show in.
In case you didn’t hear some of the latest talk about some “American Idol” judges saying goodbye to the show, all you have to do is visit the story over here.

Young girls buy tickets that fill arena’s and since there is an absence of popular young males this year I think plays into poor tickets sales.
I also read that Candice and Kree’s singles are showing weak sales on ITunes. While they are good they are not great. Angie Miller’s single is probably selling much better but AI wouldn’t let it chart which seems really fishy. Also Angie Miller’s name was miss spelled and it was impossible to find her single for Days until they fixed it. Perhaps they didn’t want it discovered that the Angie outsold the finalists.

totally right on. I am confident that Angie outsold them. i mean, there are 4086 reviews on YSMF and onli 1000+ for Candice…. seems fishy

Candice and Kree’s singles fared very poorly on iTunes and — while there is no hard evidence to support it — it’s likely that Angie Miller’s single (You Set Me Free) outsold both Candice and Kree combined. Idol producers did not allow Angie’s single to chart on iTunes, so we’ll never know for sure. The excuse that Candice needs to put time into her album is crap — Idol execs already know it will fare poorly. Lack of ticket sales makes much more sense.
