‘Homeland’ season 3 spoilers: Showtime releases list of huge guest cast

We’ve told you a little bit already about some of the guest stars that are coming up for “Homeland” season 3, but Showtime, in an effort to streamline things even further, has been kind enough to create a pretty comprehensive list of everyone who is going to be appearing on the show, and just what sort of roles they are going to be playing. If you’re looking for something easy to remember as a resource, there is nothing altogether better than this.

Before we get to the castings themselves, let’s start with the somewhat-familiar synopsis that was thrown in here about how the story moves forward with Brody, Carrie, and Saul, who will likely remain the three main pieces to the puzzle:

“Homeland season three opens during the aftermath of the horrific terror attack that decimated the U.S. intelligence apparatus, and prompted a global manhunt for the world’s most wanted terrorist – Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis). As Carrie (Claire Danes) and Saul (Mandy Patinkin) begin to pick up the pieces of their shattered professional and personal lives, they are swept up in the political and media firestorm surrounding the terror attack and the subsequent search for Brody’s whereabouts.”

Now, let’s turn to some of the people mentioned. Note that we have talked about some of these people before, but not in this sort of concise detail.

-Joanna Merlin (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) as Jess Brody’s mother Lois.

-Nazanin Boniadi (“How I Met Your Mother”) as a capable young analyst named Fara.

-Amy Morton (“Boss”) as Erin Kimball, Carrie Mathison’s CIA-appointed attorney.

-Gary Wilmes (“Louie”) as a psychiatrist Dr. Richardson, who is tasked with helping Dana Brody.

-Sam Underwood (“The Last Keepers”) as a friend of Dana’s named Leo with a troubled past.

The next three people all pertain to the terror attack investigation:

-Tracy Letts (“Prison Break”) as Senator Andrew Lockhart, a Committee Chairman who could help lead the investigation.

-Lawrence Clayton (“The Big C”) as Admiral Jim Pennington, a National Security Advisor to the President.

-Pedro Pascal (“Graceland”) as Majority Counsel David Portillo,” a part of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
