‘America’s Got Talent’: Howie Mandel tees up new season starring Heidi Klum, Mel B

Ready for a quick look at the upcoming season of “America’s Got Talent”? If so, you can send a big thank-you over to Howie Mandel. One of the show’s most-popular judges will again be back beginning with the season premiere on June 4, and once again, there will be a variety of wacky entertainment, including some that has no business being on TV.

For one example, take a look at the preview video below, shown off this week during an interview on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” We don’t really know how to describe this, save for some guy who obviously either thinks that he is legitimately good at making gratuitous animal noises, or is so desperate to be famous that he is willing to put himself through public ridicule. It’s not often that we love it when a judge slams a bad contestant, mostly because it can add insult to injury. But in this case? Not only is the insult funny, but also very well-deserved.

We still don’t quite know whether or not Mel B and Heidi Klum are going to fit in alongside Howie and Howard Stern, but at least one of them in Mel had done a few judging gigs all around the world already. Heidi, meanwhile, is a complete mystery, and a total gamble by Simon Cowell given that her style of performance comes in modeling and hosting rather than most of what the contestants on the show are going to be doing. Hopefully, she will show the same humor and spirit that she has in interviews … if she can get in a few words edgewise in between what all of the other judges are saying.
