‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9, episode 23 preview: Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith breaks down
It wouldn’t be “Grey’s Anatomy” without some sort of crisis starting to build up before we reach the season finale, and Thursday night’s new episode is going to be the beginning of the end in that respect. We already know what the token “terrible event” that is set to transpire at the hospital which is the shocking storm that threatens the life of at least one of our main characters, but before we even get to that, Meredith is going to start to break down.
In the first promo below for the episode, we see Meredith stubbornly refusing to really give up any of her day-to-day responsibilities, even though she is clearly in need to help in her present state. After all, she is probably going to give birth to her child with Derek any day now, and we are caught firmly in a holding pattern waiting for it to happen.
In addition to Meredith’s struggle to stay afloat, there is relationship drama almost across the board. Cristina has to figure out whether or not she can push forward with a man (in Owen) who could someday resent her for not wanting to have children, Alex has to discover whether or not there is a hope for himself and Jo, and there is of course all of the Jackson / April drama to get through. Perhaps the most interesting story, though, for the time being is trying to figure out whether or not something is going to happen between Callie and Arizona. Thanks to Hilarie Burton’s character, it does at least look like there could be a cheating scandal on the horizon.

The ninth season is over. Webber is the Godfather of this show and must live as well as Bailey and her new husband. Get rid of Robbins and her new love via Pan Am and live with Lucy. Same with Hunt. He can go to Germany and hang out with Teddy via Pan Am. Let’s get new loves for Callie who is constantly dumped and a new love for Yang. Avery and Kepner are interesting, weirdly. For my money I would dump Alex as he has been a snake since Season One or lower than a snake. Keeps the saves that are not his and a rat to Meredith, however she sees some redeeming quality in him I don’t. He belongs on that scooter on a one way trip he had with JLo from The WP. That should whittle down the budget for GA. Of course we need Derek, Meredith, darling Zola and new baby Bailey. At least for another ten years. This show is wonderful and I so look forward to it each Thursday evening. Thanks.
