‘American Idol’ meets the ACM Awards: Carrie Underwood and Scotty McCreery

American Idol LogoFor this special edition of “American Idol” notes, we’re planting the focus on a pair of country artists who are both present in Las Vegas for the 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards: Carrie Underwood and Scotty McCreery.

First of all, let’s kick things off with the season 4 champion, who actually had an opportunity to perform one of her most-notable singles of the past year in “Two Black Cadillacs” while at the show. It’s definitely one of her most unique songs that she has done to date strictly from the perspective of storytelling, and we have to give a little bit of extra credit to the actual two black Cadillacs that were there for the performance. It was dark, different, and powerful, which makes it stand out even more on an awards show that can have some cheesy moments from time to time.

Check out the performance in full below.

Scotty McCreeryScotty’s new cover – Meanwhile, we have some more details now courtesy of Scotty McCreery’s brand-new single, which now has a title along with some official artwork. If we’re being particularly honest here, it’s hard to necessarily say that this is one of the most creative covers of all time. However, it shows off his smile perfectly, and the title alone sounds like it will be a more mature theme than anything he has done to date.

There is also some pretty smart timing when it comes to this song: Scotty’s releasing the track on Tuesday, which is just two short days before returning to “American Idol” to give his first performance in a year. It’s nice to ultimately see that the show is more than willing to help the guy out when it comes to marketing.
