NBC’s ‘The Office,’ ‘90210’ series finales will also have retrospectives
In case you are already getting emotional about either the end of “90210” or “The Office,” there is some more good news on both fronts: the shows will each have an opportunity to receive as enormous of a send-off as humanly possible.
According to The Futon Critic, The CW is going to air a one-hour retrospective on some of the best moments over the course of the series’ run on Monday, May 13 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, with the finale beginning immediately afterwards. Meanwhile, “The Office” will also be coming to a conclusion on Thursday, May 16, with the retrospective starting at 8:00 and the finale an hour later. There was at one point talk about “The Office” possibly even extending their last episode beyond an hour, but that has not been confirmed by any of the series’ powers that be.
The two shows are ultimately ending in pretty different ways. In the case of “90210,” we have a show that is forced to make a pretty abrupt exit after most of the cast was hoping for at least a brief final season in the fall like “Gossip Girl.” Unfortunately, the ratings simply shrank for the show over the past several months, and there was no reason for The CW to renew a sinking ship. As for “The Office,” this is a series that still is NBC’s #1 comedy, but its time is merely up and some of the actors are interested in doing other things after a decade on the air. Rainn Wilson and Craig Robinson are two starts who already have pilots elsewhere, as do Angela Kinsey and Ellie Kemper.
What do you think about these two shows ending in such a way, and is there anything else that you would like to see the networks do in order to send them off properly? If you want to read some more scoop on “The Office” series finale, you can do so over at the link here.
