‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9 finale spoilers: Jessica Capshaw, Camilla Luddington talk surprise

Jessica CapshawIf there is one single element of a Shonda Rhimes series that is probably going to be remembered until the end of time, it is the simple fact that what you are going to expect to happen rarely never does. Instead, you will probably end up a teary-eyed mess somewhere, crying over the fact that one of your beloved characters is gone or something else rather terrible has happened.

So what are we talking about when it comes to the end of “Grey’s Anatomy” season 9? You may know already from reading this page that the upcoming finale this year was changed at the last-minute by Rhimes, and that it is no longer going to be the same sort of episode in contrast to the plane crash last year that we once expected. The cast did their table read for the episode leading up to it (the 23rd of the season) earlier this week, and the following tweet from Jessica Capshaw (Arizona) the next day really says it all:

“Woke up thinking about what’s coming in the final 2 episodes of GA…I don’t know how @shondarhimes does it. This is going to be thrilling.”

Meanwhile, Camilla Luddington (Jo) really summed up her emotions by simply saying that she is “in shock.” What could happen now? At the end of the day, we just hope that it is not some other life-threatening disaster, if for other reason than we don’t want to see this show become cliche, and if you have death with almost every finale over the past few years, it starts to lose some of its sting.

Ultimately, we’re not going to be forced to wait for very long; while “Grey’s Anatomy” will not be back on the air until April 25, the series is going to be ending for the spring in the middle of next month.
