‘Buckwild’ production halts in wake of Shain Gandee death
While the news of Shane Gandee’s death is still ringing across the television world, MTV has made their first move when it comes to the production of the show in which he stars in. We’re hearing that production has stopped for the time being on “Buckwild” season 2, and there is no word on whether or not it will ever pick back up.
What makes the future of this series in particular so ambiguous is the mere fact that there really is not that much of a precedent out there as to what the network should or could do moving forward. While there have been participants on reality shows (see the French version of “Survivor”) who died during production, these are often slightly different in that these were competitions. “Buckwild,” meanwhile, revolves around the lives of young people living in West Virginia, and death is something that is a part of life.
Ultimately, it could be days or even weeks until a decision is made on the future of the show. Why? The first priority here is making sure that the cast members are on board with either keeping the show going forward, or if they feel as though it is better to stop it now rather than to try and push forward with a series that may just make viewers uncomfortable. Perhaps the closest recent comparison is when Russell Armstrong died during “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” but the differences there are both the circumstances surrounding his death, and also the fact that it caters to a different sort of audience than the fun-loving folks who watch MTV.
We’re also assuming that Shain’s family will be heavily consulted in any future decision.
Do you think “Buckwild” should go on given the tragic events of today? For those looking for more information on Gandee’s death, it appears as though carbon monoxide poisoning may have been the cause as he and two other people in his car were trapped within a pool of mud.

I think that they should go on with the show, as the article said “death is a part of life” and showing the episodes with Shane in them will just show how much of a vibrent part of the show he was and how he lived his life so carefree. It will also show the closeness of Shane and his friends and how important it is just to live life to the fullest and enjoy each and every moment that you have with the people you are close to.
My deepest sympathys to Shanes’s family and friends from the show!

Like what Krista said I think MTV should air the episodes of season two that have Shane Gandee as a tribute so people could see him for who he is one last time . Shane was the best cast member on the show if u ask me .. It just won’t be as live/exciting of a show without him. I really do feel as if they definitely should just show the most recent film with Gandee involved to just add to the legacy of the legendary Shane Gandee !

it deffently wont be the same with out him on there he really was the only one who made the show worth watching because how kind and sweet hearted he was he will be missed but as far as the show going on i think they should show the episodes with him in them as a far well tribute as a final this is shane he was who he was and good bye for now not forever time thing and after they run out of shows with him in it stop the whole thing completely as the viewers i and my friends would love to be able to see shane 1 more time on buckwild because he never really new him in real life but with the show airing some felt as if we connected with him through the show like that would be someone i would want to be friends with and i would have loved to have met him before all this happened he was the best one on there if u ask me
