‘The Walking Dead’ season 3 spoilers: Lauren Cohan on stress, fun of being Maggie
In some ways, you know that it has to be hard working on a show that is all about a zombie apocalypse. You have to stay in very good shape, work in long hours sometimes under the beating sun, and constantly look as though you have been put through the wringer. It’s a much different job for the makeup department than getting to work every day playing a wealthy socialite.
However, Lauren Cohan manages to not only pull it off on “The Walking Dead” as Maggie, but have a great bit of fun doing it every step of the way. Speaking as a part of a new interview with the network (in AMC) that broadcasts her show, the actress explains just what the experience of playing this character is truly like:
“It’s stressed me out a little bit, but I feel the writers are writing to my emotional self. I’m very good at being emotional like that. That’s something they’ve probably recognized and written to, so it’s been a very rewarding season for me.”
On the subject of how she manages to have fun, the actress merely explains that she embraces the action and the drama of the whole ordeal:
“Fun is not something you think of when talking about the apocalypse, but it really has been enjoyable. If somebody is going through emotional gut-wrenching material, it’s pretty serious … But if we have time and if we have to jump off a car and slash somebody’s head open, we do have fun with that.”
While we know that there is plenty of interesting development for Maggie and the rest of the characters ahead over the course of the final three episodes, we’re doing our best to hold out hope that she stays alive. Why? More so perhaps than any other pair on the show, she and Glenn represent in many ways a glimmer of hope.
