‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Carly Rose Sonenclar, Drew Chadwick, Demi Lovato
Whether you are in the mood for teasers of performances to come, performances happening this week, or inspiring stories, we really have all of it for you in this jam-packed edition of “The X Factor” notes.
We’ll start, though, with how Carly Rose Sonenclar has managed to make “Hallelujah” into even more of an emotional ballad than it already is. The teen singer was a supporter of the Starlight Foundation even before she was on the show, and this week she gave back again to the organization, which helps to give hope to children who very much need it, by taking part in their latest gala. Of course (and as suggested), she did more than just say a few words. If you are not sniffling a little bit after watching this, we may start to question whether or not you have a soul. (We’re kidding, but you surely get our point.)
Check out a video below of Carly’s performance, which was posted by the singer herself on Twitter.
Read Drew Chadwick’s story – Since you may already be choking up, we may as well keep the emotion going by sharing what is a very emotional story from Emblem3 band member Drew Chadwick. Even though the band now carries with them a “Team Inspire” slogan and tries to make everyone feel good about themselves, he admits boldly in a new new essay that it hasn’t always been that way.
It’s really hard to excerpt a certain part of Drew’s piece from Seventeen Magazine without losing the impact, so we’ll instead just tell you to go read it over here. It chronicles the story of not just how he was bullied at times in his life, but how he was also a bully at one point early in his life and what he learned from being on both sides.
Finally … We’ll lighten the mood a little bit with the news that Demi Lovato has shot her new music video for “Heart Attack”! Typically, it takes a few weeks for these sorts of things to be edited down and released, but we’ll have more news on when you can expect to watch it very soon.
Just in case you haven’t heard about some of the latest “X Factor” USA judging rumors, you can do so by heading on over to the link here.

u guys better get used to carly having fans of all ages. her voice and her style are so great that she reaches older people as well even tho she is only about to be 14. also i dont think carly really wants to appeal to only teeny boppers. carly is more mature and has a rich taste in music. she is a true artist. shes not trying to sing cheap pop music that gets played a million times everyday for a month and then disappears. carly has a lot more depth than that, and thats why shes attracting fans of both sexes and all ages

To Angelica….that story you told about your “friend” meeting Carly at her parade is completely fabricated. I know, I was there and I was inside. To be inside to meet her, it was a private party so you had to have a pass, most of the kids were from the Starlight Children’s foundation and then close friends, family, etc. She gave an interview to every single reporter that was allowed access and signed every autograph from every fan who asked for it and did so with a smile on her face. In fact, she ended up staying a little later than expected because some of the people on the guest list were running late and she didn’t want them to miss out on seeing her. I find it interesting how people not only try to tear someone down, but make up stupid little stories to try and accomplish it. Either way, one of you is lying but I guess that makes you feel better about yourself.

Welcome to stardom Carly. Everyone is an expert on what you should wear, how you should act, what you should sing, where you should sing, who you are better than, who you are worse than, who should be your fans, how those fans should act…..well….there seems to be an expert for every part of your existence. Glad none of this matters. I just want to hear you sing….(from one of your older fans…the non creepy kind…)

Angelica- I also met Carly and she was friendly and nice. She posed for pictures. She was awesome. She is human and maybe she was having a bad day or a very long day the day your friend met her. Maybe she didn’t feel good. Who knows give her the benefit of the doubt

Nicole-, you go girl!!! Defend your girls. I respect that. And I’m not bashing them. I wish them well. And I mean all groups break up even the Beatles broke up. Nothing last forever.

Watched the recent singoff between Charley Askey and Aubrey Cleland on IDOL. Aubrey sang OUT HERE ON MY OWN. While it was excellent, it made me realize how special Cece Frey really was … no comparison, Cece killed it.

Is it too much to ask Carly to wear makeup when she goes to see concerts? She looks weird without makeup. Her eyes are way too small for her face. She needs eye makeup. Without it, her nose is too big for her face. The pic I have with her is ruined bc she looked like she just woke up from a hang over.

I watched the x factor. I’m from Hastings, NY. Not far from Carly. So I supported her and Emblem 3. I supported Carly becuz she’s from Westchester county like me. I am 16. I figure she has a great voice and I looked forward to her performances. But my opinion of carly changed forever after one of my friends met her at her parade and one of my twitter followers met her at the Ed Sheeran concert. The friend that met her @ the parade asked Carly inside the restaurant if she can have an autograph and carly said “ugh” and rolled her eyes. She gave attitude. Wasn’t nice. At least she has a pic to prove it..my twitter follower met Carly @ ed’s concert and she saw Carly with her brother and said hi carly. Carly said hi back and carly’s friend scream real loud at this girl. When she asked carly for a picture she ignored this girl. And russ had to be the one to say “maybe later”. I don’t get why Carly is mean in person. I get she does charity but when you meet people in public at least be nice. You are developing a reputation for being mean, stuck up and rude Carly Rose. I hear from people who go to school at Rye Neck how stuck up you are. And what an attitude you give when you meet people.

Alycia, please shut up. I’m on here reading about x factor news and I never say anything but I have had it with you carly rose fans always putting down fifth harmony to make a point. I don’t care if you don’t like them but get your facts straight before you talk sh*t about them. They never asked for money. The 5h fans keep suggesting they get a new camera and all of us fans say we can donate the money if they want. But they don’t need it, they can ask Simon or LA Reid for one. It’s just that they post covers and it could be of better quality if they had a HD camera. They never asked for it. Us fans suggested the new camera. And just because 5H is not out publicizing their philanthropic efforts like Carly doesn’t mean they don’t do it. Lauren volunteers at Catholic charities and Service day. Dinah, Ally, and Normani volunteer with activities involving their church. Sorry if they haven’t do a live event to donate to a cause. They try. Maybe they’ll do one in the future. And yeah girl bands break up but at least they’ll put out an album or two or three. And tour and do concerts. That won’t stop the teen fan base from liking them. Because all 5 are nice girls who don’t trash other people. Most of 5H fans are Carly fans so you aren’t doing Carly any favors by trashing a girl group. Sorry if these other girls come on here to trash carly but not all of us are. And just because some emblem 3 or 5 harmony fans don’t like carly doesn’t mean that all of us do.

5H signed a recording contracts and with a label correct? Why would they beg fans for money for new/ better equipment? Aren’t they going to be super stars? Why take money from poor fans? They haven’t donated on cent to charity . I guess they’re more worried about themselves. Bands always breakup. And 5H will too. Just wait and see.

Rose you should keep to choir practice. Being in a choir doesn’t make you a vocal expert. Carly is amazing whether you think so or not.

It is not my intention to be condescending to teens, but hire is my take on why Fifth Harmony attracts more of a teen fan base: Some of the girls in 5H act sassy and try to look sexy; hence teens with their raging hormones will be more attracted to them. however, adults (mostly more mature) can look beyond the looks and appreciate a good voice. I’m not saying Carly isn’t pretty; she’s a beautiful but more reserved girl. Because Carly is younger, or just the way she was raised, or just her personality, she has not yet acquired the sassiness that helped the 5H girls attract teen fans. Carly has plenty of younger tween fans though who are still young enough to not think that sassiness means cool. I am a female in my 30s, and I absolutely love Carly’s voice. I believe with the right songs, she’ll get a wider demographic following than 5H. Sorry, but most adults including myself do not care about 5H and their booty pop madness…

All artists have fans of all ages. I believe that is their goal to acquire as many fans as possible, no matter what democratic they fall into.

Don’t expect a cover from Carly any time soon. you have to pay for that. she ain’t ever releasing a cover free anymore. she got to make a big deal of it and do stage it or make us pay in some way. i don’t know what happened to her bruno mars cover. it disappeared.

As a teen, i do find it a little weird that thirty yr old men are like obsessed with carly. it’s all over her facebook, twitter, and instagram. it’s nice that you like her voice. but when you propose to her or comment on her clothing its so weird. and if you’re at work stalking a little girl, it is desperate and weird. i get what taylor is saying. i support carly too but most of the carly rose fan twitter pages are run by older people. whereas fifth harmony has the teen fan base. most of their accounts are run by teenagers.

Actually Doppel, Diamond can hit higher notes than Carly. I know because I know about music and sing in a choir. I have no plans to pursue a career in music, but just hearing Carly, she strains on the higher notes. Her upper register needs a lot of work, or she isn’t capable of going beyond a G#5. and sure you’ll love her for her “soulful” sounding voice. but she can’t ever be called the greatest singer in the world. that title belongs to Mariah Carey, who has an intimidating discography and a 5 octave range. Carly should stick to Jazz, soul, or Broadway. Diamond will be the mega-star, her voice reminds me of Whitney.

To all the idots, this is not a cover….this is a young lady graciously donating her time and talent to help sick children , you have all heard of charity! that being said the reason she sings feeking good is more than likely because it is requested.
you should all be ashamed of yourself;s, this young lady helped raise over 1 1/2 million dollars…….and you complain……idiots

I am sorry but I am not too confident on a computer
1. Carly came in first and second place not only from votes of 13 years girls. The whole country was voting for her. Her voice is unique and is appreciated over many age groups. In fact there was an article in Entertainment Weekly that women over 30 were her biggest fans on X factor
2. This young lady was singing and giving it her all at a charity event that raised 1.6 million dollars for severely disabled children. I thought the video was inspiring and amazing. When you get older and more mature you will understand.
3. People are recording her not directly from the sound systems but on a basic video camera, the sound will never be the same as the X Factor who invested millions to get the right sound quality
4. I don’t have a twitter account so this is where I get my Carly news. But it would seem until her album comes out there is not much news for fans to talk about so maybe twitter is a way for her die hard fans to stay in touch with each other.
5. I agree with you that no one should be “Stalking her at school” but is that story really true or just someone spreading rumors on the internet?
Just my thoughts

Taylor, I understand you are young and you want to express your feelings but in a forum like this be prepared to be shot down.

So 15 year old Taylor do you think that those creepy old people should stay at home and keep their mouths shut? Do you think we have no right to feelings and emotions nor can we appreciate the good example of the children of other people? What I think is weird is that you have this funny idea about the lives of people over 25. I hope you recall your words when you are older and face the age bias that you express so outrageously and inelegantly.

Why is she dressing like Adele? you are pretty Carly but this white dress and the one you wore to the Gannett Front were Ugly.

Don’t you jealous people have other things to do than to talk trash about a little girl spending her time at a CHARITY event?
@Rose:
I don’t think Diamond White can sing higher than Carly. I also don’t think you’re old enough to be pouting on the internet. Maybe after you pass secondary education, you can come back and voice your disrespect for people who give back to society.

I am a Carly Rose supporter. Love her. and I have to say something that bugs me. Her fan base is like pretty big among Brazilians and older people. I’m 15. I followed some of the Carly Rose Twitter accounts during the X factor. I had to unfollow them because its crazy how they are with stalking her every move. One guy has 2 daughters and he admitted to checking Carly’s school for when her school breaks are. There are two, three people that constantly retweet anything that is carly rose related, like compliments. And they talk about their jobs. these are older people dedicating their daily life to stalking a 13 year old girl and it is so CREEPY. like don’t you have lives? i get that if you have an account like that when you are a teenager. but come on! you’re an adult. if you are 25 years old and you have a fan account dedicated to a 13 year old. you need to re-evaluate your life. esp having that much time to stalk her. it’s weird.
Rose
March 16, 2013 @ 9:10 pm
ok. why does it seem like Carly’s always yelling or screaming when she’s singing? doesn’t she know it sounds awful? i cringe sometimes. LA Reid was right about her. she overdoes her singing. its annoying. Take some singing lessons Carly. you need it. you can’t hit high notes like Diamond white or Dinah Jane can.

LOL. she doesn’t need the money for equipment. she can ask her dad to sell his mercedes or Russell’s sports car. they’re rich.

SING SOMETHING ELSE CARLY. There are other songs. we are all sick of feeling good, rolling in the deep, and hallelujah, which is a song about sex anyway. and I think fans have a right to complain. it’s been too long since her last cover. and the audio messes up the cover videos.
Benzir
March 16, 2013 @ 7:58 pm
@Kylie Wagner stop complaining and be appreciative. She’s singing Hallelujah there not Feeling Good and she sang Rolling in the Deep at that USAToday Event. Also she did the After Tonight There’s Trouble medley in the studio with her brother and also the Give Me Love Cover live and impromptu. She does more for her fans than any of the other contestants do. She doesn’t accept money for better equipment and the only time she requested money was for that live stream she did which all went to charity. Plus she’s given away nice gifts to fans. She gave a nice expensive watch to someone.

Bad audio or reverb seems to be plaguing Carly. Since Fifth Harmony fans are donating money to buy 5H an HD camera, we can donate money on CarlyRoseOnline.net, so we can get her a better camera and sound equipment and a microphone. Just a suggestion. Because I would gladly give her $ just so I can hear her sing clearly. It sucks having to hear all that static or echo.

Um, Can Carly Rose sing something else? I understand that the cover of Nina Simone’s song made her famous, but I think a majority of us want NEW covers.
