‘Glee’ season 4 spoilers: Lea Michele confirms Idina Menzel’s return
Do you feel like “Glee” needed a bit more of Broadway mystique in the latter part of this season? If you answered “yes” to this question, odds are we are giving you a definite reason to smile right about now.
In a new post on Twitter, Lea Michele confirmed that stage star Idina Menzel was going to be returning for at least one episode later this spring as Rachel’s mom Shelby Corcoran (seemingly no relation to Barbara from “Shark Tank”). The last time that we saw this character, it was during an extended arc in the first half of season 3, where she came on to help lead the rival glee club the Trouble Tones (oh, and she also kissed Puck … which meant that he had kissed both Rachel and her mom).
So why is she specifically back now? It ultimately makes a little bit of sense, as Shelby was convinced to follow some more of her dreams near the end of this past story arc, and she and Rachel could be on some sort of collision course. Then again, it’s also possible that she shows up in order to help Rachel prepare for her “Funny Girl” audition, as this seems to be one of the primary storylines that is being set up for the character in the Big Apple right now.
Ultimately, “Glee” is in a pretty interesting position moving forward into season 5. We still don’t have any idea just how this year is going to end, as we have yet to even make it to Regionals on the timeline (which is later than both seasons 2 and 3). Ryan Murphy has already said that he is planning to do a few things here to prepare for the next batch of episodes that have not been done before, so we’ll have to take a wait-and-see approach when it comes to most of that.
What do you think about Idina returning? If you want to watch a video preview for Thursday night’s new episode “Feud,” you can do so over at the link here.

Stunt casting and pandering

A show this messed up deserves this pandering to the only audience that is left. 75 million characters on glee that I do not care about skewing the show towards overwriting for frankly smash lite or fame reboot. Giving in to the gay and lesbian community by rewriting a major character to suddenly not follow his passion to perform but instead to follow the teacher path and to basically write him off the show. In the glee world, teacher meant not being good enough and suddenly this character is not good enough. I thought the acting storyline for Finn would allow the show to slow down the itunes crap and get good acting back on the show to make the music be the background to the story not the story. Blaine is going to sing another solo that is just what we need oh my god just no. I just cannot understand the vicious nature of what this show has become it is not even fun anymore.
