NBC’s ‘Revolution’ spoilers: Learning why the power went out … without waiting

NBC’s “Revolution” held a panel discussion at PaleyFest on Saturday, and this is a show right now that quite possibly faces more questions than any other. Why? We haven’t seen a new episode since the fall finale at the end of November, and the plan has long been to bring the show back with “The Voice” on March 25, that way it can run through the rest of the episodes without interruption.

While we know that some people out there absolutely hate this idea, we like it for one simple reason: “Go On” and “The New Normal” have bombed without the singing show as a lead-in, so let’s not give viewers a reason to stop watching “Revolution” just when things are starting to get move. The shift towards politics is much more interesting that watching Charlie languish and whine, and it is starting to feel a little like a moving game of Risk.

Plus, executive producer Eric Kripke told the journalists and the fans at the event that they are not planning on keeping the secret of the blackout too much longer; as a matter of fact, it will be revealed in episode 13 as to why it happened:

“It opens the door to a bigger story and a bigger mystery … The fights get bigger, the emotion gets more fraught.”

In getting the blackout mystery out of the way, the show will also hopefully avoid the curse that badly damaged “FlashForward” a few years ago, when it was heavily criticized for not answering questions quickly enough and was canceled after one season. Not many shows can pull off what “Lost” did, but “Revolution” does still have potential after a shaky start this past fall.
