‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2: Oscars promo makes the ‘movie’ comparison
If you watch the latest promo for “Once Upon a Time” season 2 via the 2012 Academy Awards below, ABC makes one thing very clear: they really want you to believe that their show is just as cinematic as a major motion picture.
Rather than showing off any clips from upcoming episodes in the video, however, the network took a different approach in an attempt to attract viewers who have not actually seen the show before. They featured a number of the biggest moments from the past season and a half, whether it be jumping through worlds, Emma climbing a beanstalk, the creatures from the premiere, or Captain Hook’s pirate ship. Will this strategy work? We’re not quite sure: the big-budget movie crowd is not really the same group that tunes in regularly to the Oscars, and the visual effects for the show, simple for time and budgetary reasons, are inevitably not going to be as good as on the big screen.
So what will be coming up through the rest of “Once Upon a Time” season 2? Some of the present highlights include a showdown involving Regina and Cora, Emma Swan attempting to get to know Neal Cassady on a deeper level after so many years, and the introduction of many new faces to Storybrooke. Plus, we will also have a further opportunity to see what happens to the Charming family now that they are able to spend some real time together for a change.
What do you think about this new promo? If you want to check out some scoop on a “Once Upon a Time” spinoff that is being considered featuring the Mad Hatter, all you have to do is check out the story over at the link here.
