‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 6 spoilers: Penny’s big move forward

It is hard to really criticize a show like “The Big Bang Theory” just on the basis of the ratings alone. After all, you’re looking at the most-watched show on TV right now in adults aged 18-49, so they are obviously doing something right. However, there has been one flaw in the show that has started to become more and more apparent as Penny becomes assimilated into the world comic books and other geeky things: wasn’t this woman supposed to be an actress at one point in her life?

Luckily, this is a story that is going to be coming back in a big way on some upcoming episodes. According to TVLine, Penny is going to be featured in a version of “A Streetcar Named Desire” … for community theater. Okay, so it is not the next big movie or TV role, but it is a step in the right direction considering that the last major acting job she had was a hemorrhoid commercials.

So will Leonard be around to support her with this? What we are interested in exploring here is if she has any success, and just what his reaction to it is going to be. For much of the show thus far, so much of their relationship has been him as the genius with all of the accomplishments, and Penny being the social butterfly who works at the Cheesecake Factory. Sooner or later, this could change; and to be frank, we’re rather excited to see that happen after so many seasons of the same thing.
