‘Homeland’ season 3 spoilers: Could we see flashbacks?
At this point, it is hard to really “spoil” much of anything on a show like “Homeland,” as the writers are just now coming together and starting to get some preliminary ideas for season 3 on paper. The only official news that has been released is that Diego Klattenhoff will no longer be a series regular, but even that still leaves the possibility open that he could appear in multiple episodes as Jess’ new lover Mike.
But what could be on the table for the new season? Considering that Abu Nazir’s ghost still hangs very much over the show courtesy of Brody being in hiding, it is possible that we could find out much more about the plan that was put into motion to pin the explosion on Damian Lewis’ character … even after the terrorist was killed.
We know that this negates Navid Negahban from having an opportunity to appear in the present on the show, but the actor explains in a new interview with The Atlantic, upon being asked a question of whether or not we will see any torture scenes that were alluded at back in season 1, that the door has not been closed on any future Nazir appearances:
“I really am not aware on what we might see in season three, it is hard to say. But there might be a chance to see some flashbacks.”
Much of this could depend on more than just Alex Gansa and the writing staff, as we anticipate Negahban getting quite a few opportunities moving forward thanks to his time on the show. He is already set for a gig on “CSI: NY,” and with pilot season approaching he could be hired for any sort of series regular gig.
