‘Happy Endings’ season 3 spoilers: Conan O’Brien pal lands paternal role
While “Happy Endings” season 3 has struggled at times in the ratings, the quality of the show has continued to be steady (which means uproariously funny). So while we’re not feeling altogether optimistic about the show’s future, for the time being it may just be best to take a seat, smile, and enjoy the series for what it is.
With that in mind, we present some new and exciting casting news that may make you smile during this tough time. According to a new report from TVLine, Andy Richter has apparently gotten enough of a break from taping “Conan” episodes to make an appearance as Penny’s father. Does this seem weird to anyone else? It should, because Richter is only 14 years older than Casey Wilson is in real life.
Don’t worry, as this is not a situation where the writers are going to “old up” Richter in order to make him a perfect fit for the role. Instead, Penny’s father Roy just so happened to be very young when she gave birth, and he is going to be making a surprising appearance as she and Pete are getting closer to a happy ending of their own. Richter of course has a history of some memorable guest appearances, and his wit and overall silliness makes a perfect fit here.
As for when we are going to see Richter appear, that much is still a mystery. Due to the low ratings, ABC seems ready to push the series off of the air before the February sweeps arrive, and they also happened to remove it from the Sunday-night schedule after plugging it and “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23” on in place of the canceled “666 Park Avenue.”
What do you think about Richter’s casting, and is there a part of you secretly hoping for Conan O’Brien to follow suit? Be sure to share your thoughts below!
