Future of ‘Revenge’ season 2, ‘Happy Endings’ in general discussed by ABC boss
If you have found “Revenge” season 2 to be at times underwhelming, you are apparently not alone. Based on what the boss of ABC in Paul Lee said at the TCA panel on Thursday, he believes that there are some changes coming up for the drama (which has lost some viewership in its move to Sunday) moving forward that should make some people believers in the show year again.
Lee actually said that there were times in the first “Revenge” arc this season got a little bit “big” (a buzz word to mean convoluted and/or confusing), and he proclaimed that “Mike Kelley is excited about focusing on our lead characters and their emotional journey.” This hopefully means that we will see more scenes of Emily Thorne and Daniel Grayson wrestling with their relationship, and less of external characters popping up that we know little about.
As for some other ABC shows, let’s take a quick look at what Lee said:
“Happy Endings” and “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23” – Lee said that he in particular really loves both comedies, and the move to add some episodes on Sundays was an attempt to add sampling (even though it has not quite worked). No decision has been made yet on the future of either, but it probably will not be good news, since Lee loving a show is different than him making a business decision to keep it.
“Scandal” – Lee could not be happier with the show, and with Shonda Rhimes’ enthusiasm about it in general.
“666 Park Avenue” – This seems to be the biggest disappointment for him of the year, as it generated plenty of buzz prior to its premiere. As for “Last Resort,” he admitted that it had a harder road to stay alive since it falls outside of their largely-female base.
