‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2, episode 10 preview: Once upon a threat
If you looked back at “Once Upon a Time” and thought to yourself the question of “what is a classic evil queen scene,” then we are pretty sure that you would find the video below to be a perfect match of what’s in your head. After all, it features the show’s most-notorious character doing a little bit of posturing, even though she is apparently a part of a war that she has a very little chance of winning.
So what’s the significance of showing us a scene of the Evil Queen proclaiming that the only sort of surrender that she would accept is one that involves the death of Snow White? That is what we still don’t know, since this is a sort of scene that feels almost like a given. We know that these two ladies hate each other at this point in the timeline, and that Regina wants the woman otherwise known as Mary Margaret to fall off of the face of the earth over what happened to Daniel. Is there going to be any good that comes out of reiterating this in our heads?
As it turns out, there may be a method to the madness. We think that the sole purpose of this scene is really to present us with a sense of contrast, as we already know that this episode will feature Regina being accused of a crime that Emma is convinced that she did not commit. So if she had no problem killing back in the fairytale world that was, what could be stopping her from going through with it now? As you might have guessed, the answer here is actually rather simple when you think about it: Henry, and her fear of alienating herself even further from the child that she still loves.
What do you think is the purpose of this flashback, beyond just giving us another glimpse into the awesome Evil Queen wardrobe? If you want to watch a new promo for “Once Upon a Time” that really plants the focus on love, you can do so over at the link here.
