‘American Idol’ notes: Lee DeWyze, Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood

American Idol LogoWe’ve focused quite a bit on some newcomers to the “American Idol” world (like Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez) in our recent show notes; so on this particular occasion, we want to highlight some stars from seasons 4-9 performing all around the world … beginning with Lee DeWyze.

The video below (via the Red Beanie Blog) features the season 9 champion performing one of his new songs in “Bedroom Door” while at the Triple Door in Seattle last week. If you haven’t heard the song before, it’s a rather beautiful piece with some great lyrics behind it. Lee has been touring across America over the past several weeks performing some cool, intimate venues; we’ve said it before, but we like the folksy direction he is heading in with his music.

Adam Lambert rocks – We’ve heard Adam Lambert perform “Are You Gonna Go My Way” before, but never with Portuguese sensation Aurea. This performance took place recently at the Hennessy Music Festival in Shanghai, and is a feast for the eyes and ears. Adam always carries the stage well when performing alongside other artists, and this made us a fan of Aurea almost right away without really knowing anything about her beforehand.

Carrie with P.S. 22 – Is there a more famous school choir in the country right now that these kids? We don’t think so. Only a matter of days after making headlines courtesy of a performance with Phillip, the kids had an opportunity over the weekend to perform with Carrie Underwood. There were admittedly some major timing issues during the group’s performance of “So Small,” but it is pretty hard to deny right now that these are the luckiest kids on the planet.
