‘Fringe’ season 5 spoilers: The series finale title is…
We already know that “Fringe” is set to air its final episode on Friday, January 18 after some schedule changes, and we also now know one other key piece to the puzzle to go along with it: what the title for this long-awaited (and hopefully thrilling) hour of television is going to be.
Speaking to TVLine over the weekend at a party celebrating 100 episodes of the Fox series in Vancouver (where it shoots), executive producer J.H. Wyman confirmed that the episode will have a rather ominous title of “An Enemy of Fate.” This will be the second of tour hours airing on the day, and you can expect a little bit of everything to take place. Not only will there be an emotional struggle for Peter and Olivia, but there is also set to be all sorts of action and special effects that have likely already shattered what the budget for this low-rated show is:
“It’s definitely the biggest season finale we’ve ever had. It’s the most expensive…. It’s massive, really big. I wanted to go out like, ‘Wow, how did they do that?’
“I wanted to make sure I handled [the action element] and the emotions with equal import.”
The end of “Fringe” is really in many ways going to mark an end of an era for Fox, where they seemed to learn something from the great “Firefly” debacle. While they are ultimately the architects behind the decision to end the series, they were at least kind enough here to allow it to end under its own accord, and not with having the rug pulled out from under them with no suitable conclusion for the fans.
