‘Downton Abbey’ season 3 spoilers: New details on Christmas special

We know the wait for the “Downton Abbey” season 3 Christmas special is a long and rather tiresome one, but there is some good news coming up now: some brand-new details about just what the plot may be for this long-mysterious two-hour event. Julian Fellowes has been keen to keep a tight lid on the proceedings thus far; and while the following may give us a better idea of what could happen, the good news simultaneously here is that it is not enough to keep us from still being on the edge of our seat.

According to a new report via the Radio Times, the first thing that we know where is that Lord Grantham and his family are going to be leaving the Abbey for the time and actually heading north to Scotland. Could we see some snow here? It’s possible, but what we can confirm is that the group will be joining Lady Rose as they arrive at Duneagle Castle. As we have been saying for some time, this episode is actually not going to be set at Christmas; instead, it will be in September, but some of the themes present here should carry over well to the holiday season.

So while the Granthams are up north, what will happen to the Abbey? That is going to be the question, and Mr. Carson may have his hands full more than ever given that the servants will have a little more leeway without so many people to cater to on an everyday basis. There are some other surprises rumored to be happening within the Abbey’s walls; but since they are just rumors, we do not want to spoil anything too substantial for the time being.
