‘Homeland’ season 2 spoilers: More trouble in paradise

“Homeland” season 2 has been a carefully-constructed game of chess, but as you may have already seen courtesy of the first promo from Sunday night’s new episode, Carrie and Brody are about to take a massive risk and clear out half the board. These two have to know better than to get romantic with each other based on everything that they have been through in the past; and yet, it is happening all over again. We can’t foresee Brody’s relationship with Jess lasting for a second straight time if she finds out about this, and it already seems like things with him and Carrie are going to go off of the rails soon.

This new photo is from the episode airing a week from Sunday, and it does not look as though these two are about to get involved in a passionate embrace. What’s holding them back? We see it as being a number of different things:

1. The obvious, which is that Brody is married, and Carrie is in part just getting close to him as a part of her mission with the CIA.

2. More trust issues, since both of these people are now relying on each other to get what they want; which, for all intensive purposes, is one of the worst ideas ever. However, they really don’t have any choice. Carrie helps Brody stay out of prison, while he may be the only way to stop an attack on America.

3. Maybe Brody is starting to actually get a conscience? It’s a novel thought, and these two have to realize sooner or later that their relationship is pretty toxic.
