‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 spoilers: Barney / Robin goodness!

After a preemption last week due to Hurricane Sandy’s arrival on the east coast, “How I Met Your Mother” season 8 is now back on track with an episode Monday entitled “The Autumn of Breakups.” You can go back and watch some video footage of it here, but for now we’re focusing on scoop that you are not going to find in what CBS has released thus far.

So is this episode (and subsequent ones) going to finally throw Barney and Robin fans a bone when it comes to them getting together? We know it has to happen at some point reasonably early on this season in order for the two to marry by May at the earliest, and E! News is reporting that there will at least be a few moments. However, they did also stop short of saying that it would be a guarantee that these two beloved characters will finally hook up for good just yet. Barney does seem to have one more love interest coming up, even if they only appear for a limited amount of time and possibly only to make Robin jealous.

By the end of this episode, we can all but guarantee that one of the two remaining unmarried couples (in Ted and Victoria and Robin and Nick) will meet their end … but you’ll just have to watch Monday night for an answer. Don’t worry, as we will have a full review of the craziness that ensued with the characters the moment that the half-hour drops the curtain.
