‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 spoilers: Howling at the moon (video)
While Sunday night’s new episode of “Once Upon a Time” season 2 succeeded in giving us a panoramic view of Emma Swan’s past, it did not exactly give us much of a sense of what is going on in the world of Storybrooke at the moment. There was no Evil Queen, no Rumpelstiltskin, and very little David and Henry.
So as a result of this, the upcoming new episode will feature many of these people; but perhaps more important than this, someone who has really not received that much time in the spotlight so far this season: Meghan Ory’s Red / Rudy. When there is an unusual murder within the small town, she is immediately going to become prime suspect #1 thanks largely to her history of transforming into the Big Bad Wolf.
But is Red really the guilty party? This is what the episode will have to answer. For one, there is an issue here regarding how magic works in the real world; it doesn’t really make much sense that Red would still have the same crazy werewolf power in Storybrooke that she did in the fairytale world. This instead smells like a setup, one possibly even orchestrated by a certain new character in Storybrooke with a vendetta based on everything that happened to him back in the other universe.
While all of this is going on, we will see via flashbacks how Red eventually found some solace with a group of fellow werewolves that seems a cooler, less shirtless version of the community in “The Twilight Saga.” It was here that she may have been able to get some of her powers under control, but this may be a moot point in the present unless there is some sort of clue about the murder buried within the past.
Do you think it is the perfect time for a Red-centered episode?
