Is Charmed new tonight on The CW? Season 2 episode 9 promo
Last week, we know that the writers set the stage for some exciting stuff for Harry, Mel, and some other familiar faces in the case. Alas, that’s not something that you’re going to get a chance to see closure on at the moment. You’re instead going to be stuck waiting until Friday, January 17 in order to see more new episodes turn up and it’s true — that’s a long, tough wait. It’s especially hard with a show that has experienced its fair share of ratings troubles over time. You want to ensure that it’s not going to lose any more viewers given that, frankly, it doesn’t have a lot that it can afford losing.
Ultimately, though, we don’t think that The CW took Charmed off the air in order to sabotage it or anything in that vein. Instead, we see their move here as more of a strategic one. They want to make sure that there are viewers around, as opposed to them being off enjoying holiday festivities right now.
As for what is coming up when the show does return, the promo makes it very clear that the story of Mel’s dad is going to take center stage. As it turns out, he’s alive! Maybe this is something that was assumed by some viewers, but certainly not everyone within this world. This is one of many different little story threads that can be pulled and extrapolated on in the new year, as can an exploration into various powers. We feel like there will be a healthy run of episodes through most of January and February, and then we’ll embark on another hiatus once more. This is a series that does still have a lot of story to tell, and that is regardless of whether or not there is another season ordered down the road.
