Doctor Who season 12: BBC teases upcoming announcement
As a matter of fact, there is a lot to be excited about already when it comes to the Doctor Who season 12 promotional campaign! In a new post on Twitter, the series officially revealed that there will be something big coming soon. Why else would they note to “watch this space”? There’s a very specific reason for them to do that, and it’s to create even more hype around whatever is going to be coming down the road.
We know entering Doctor Who season 12 that this is going to be one of the most ambitious batches of episodes that we’ve seen. Showrunner Chris Chibnall has a full season under his belt now, and he knows both what works and also what didn’t. He can learn from earlier mistakes, elevate the material, and also at the same time also do whatever he can to play into the nostalgic hearts of many viewers out there.
In the end, remember this — nostalgia is one of the central tenets to Doctor Who. One of the best things that you can do is to look towards the future, while at the same time honoring the past. Also, remember this — Doctor Who is about imagination, and it is also about telling stories that viewers can learn from. Yet, it’s also about fun, and finding ways in order to delight and entertain. Keep some of that whimsy, but also find a way in order to ensure that there is some of that classic fun throughout.
Odds are, we think that Doctor Who will be back within the first several months of 2020 with new episodes. Maybe this tease is about a trailer, or some sort of further tease towards a holiday special and/or something in that vein.
