Shameless season 10 episode 2 spoilers: Ian & Mickey’s challenges

When we saw some of the first details for the upcoming Shameless season 10 premiere, we were excited! Yet, we were also bummed to not get a whole lot of information about Ian and Mickey’s storyline in the synopsis. After all, these two characters are both back in a major capacity for this upcoming season, and there is a considerable amount of story to explore. Let’s just put it like this — we’re going to be seeing Cameron Monaghan and Noel Fisher’s characters explore the dynamics of a romance in prison.

As you would imagine, keeping the spark there isn’t easy. You’re dealing with rather terrible conditions, horrible prisoners all around you, and a certain degree of cabin fever. It may sound nice for the two of them to spend a lot of time together at first, but sooner or later, it could get combustible. After all, these two are very combustible even separate from each other.

Here’s some good news worth noting — Ian and Mickey are confirmed to be featured prominently in episode 2, a story that is entitled “Sleep Well My Prince For Tomorrow You Shall Be King.” Per SpoilerTV, here is some of what you can expect:

Feeling the pressure from Debbie, Frank sets out to make money to keep his place in the house, but Mikey has bigger plans for him. Lip is overwhelmed by the demands of a newborn, and Carl learns more about his mysterious new coworker at Captain Bob’s. Ian and Mickey struggle to keep the romance alive in prison.

Our thinking is that Ian and Mickey will be able to work through some of their issues, but it may take them eventually getting out in the real world before they know if their relationship will stick. Meanwhile, much of the humor of this episode will likely come from yet another signature Frank Gallagher get-rich-quick scheme. While we’ve seen some of these a million or so times already, there is something about them that remains entertaining.
