Should an Outlander season 5 aftershow be considered at Starz?

Over the past several years, we’ve seen aftershow trends aplenty when it comes to a wide array of different scripted series. Talking Dead was somewhat of a pioneer in this realm, but since then, there have been various on-air and web shows for everything from Bachelor in Paradise to Sons of Anarchy. It’s a far more difficult show to put together than anyone realizes — you need to have a host, for example, who is both entertaining and also has a deep knowledge of the source material. Meanwhile, you also need to have guests who are eager to be there to break everything down. If it’s airing on linear television, it also helps if there’s an interactive element to it.

So could a show like Outlander pull this off? One of the reasons we’re wondering is off the heels of Power Confidential, the aftershow that Starz is doing right now alongside Power. This is one of the network’s most-popular shows — but then again, so is Outlander. These two make up an extremely formidable duo, and they each bring a ton of viewers and subscriptions to the network.

So when you think about popularity alone, an Outlander aftershow makes some sense. You could feature cast and producer interviews, behind the scenes stories, and teases for what’s next. It could be a fun companion to all the other good stuff that the show is bringing to the table.

Is there a reason why this couldn’t happen? well, for Power it’s slightly easier to do something like this given that it films in New York, right in the middle of all things media. Meanwhile, Outlander films on a different continent, and that’s without even mentioning that season 6 is filming in the new year. It’s possible that certain episodes could coincide with production, or that the cast will have other projects in that time. (Season 6 filming dates have not been announced.) It’d be a harder endeavor to pull off than what Power did, but we’d be open to it.
