Outlander season 5: Caitriona Balfe on Jamie, Claire’s ‘deeper’ love
For those who do love Outlander and all of its love stories, Caitriona Balfe is promising a LOT of great things coming up. Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight while at New York Comic-Con, here is what she had to say:
“This is a really strong season for everyone … But for Claire and Jamie it’s this beautiful deepening of a relationship. What’s so great about getting to be on a show for this long, you get to really live with these characters, with them getting older, there’s a lot of wisdom, they know each other so much. The love deepens. I think people sort of fall in love, sometimes, with early passion over the more day-to-day connection, and I think that’s actually much more exciting.”
The basic thing that we’re getting a sense of is that there is a lot of love that will be expressed in season 5 — and in a number of different ways. There is the strong, romantic love that exists between certain characters, and then there is a sense of familial love. You’ll see that with the Frasers, and then also people like Fergus, Marsali, and Lord John Grey. While not all of these characters may agree about everything all of the time, there are some unifying principles that bring them all together. They love each other, and beyond just that, they’re willing to die for each other. Suffice it to say, that will be essential for the upcoming season given the fact that there are a lot of big stories coming as the Revolutionary War looms.
How do you want to see love expressed moving into Outlander season 5?
