Outlander notes: Sam Heughan prepares whisky; who’s joined Instagram?
In a new post on Instagram, Heughan shared the stoppers from his upcoming Sassenach Spirits via the Great Glen Company — one that already looks to capture some of the spirit of the show. The name is a brilliant tie-in to Outlander in its own right, and this is a way for Sam to both showcase his beverage while also allowing it to court some consumers. We know that this is something that he has been work at producing for some time; when you think about the process that goes into making a great whisky, you cannot just wake up one morning and decided that you want it on the shelves within a couple of months!
While the whisky is not on store shelves just yet, it definitely feels like something to keep our eyes peeled for. Let’s go ahead and hope that it will be here before too long, and we can all raise a glass in honor of Outlander season 5. What better companion is there to a show about Jamie Fraser? We gotta imagine that the marketing to this is going to be totally fun when it is released — think in terms of a fantastic celebration of Scotland.

If you didn’t know, Colin McFarlane (Ulysses) just opened up an account this week! Suffice it to say, we cannot recommend him enough for a follow. If he’s going to use it like he does his Twitter, he’s one of the most interactive members of the cast with fans.
