The Walking Dead season 10 spoilers: Daryl, Carol’s big story to come
We know that there are plenty of people out there who have all sorts of feelings towards the two — there are some who love the idea of them together as lovers, and then others who just love them the way that they are. It doesn’t necessarily seem like the show is pushing for romance now, but one way or another, they’ll spend plenty of time together.
Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, executive producer Angela Kang offered up her thoughts on the dynamic between the two — and, to go along with that, where things could be going for the two right now:
“[They] are best friends … I think they are soulmates, whether or not their relationship ever goes into romantic territory. They are tied to each other in this world and have been through so much together.
“They love each other, and they trust each other. They care what happens to the other. And yet that can be very complicated when there’s so much trauma and this bigger thing that’s taking over the communities.”
In addition to everything that is going on at the moment with the Whisperers, there are some other issues that could take hold within the upcoming season — think personal here. Is Carol going to need a shoulder after everything that happened with her and Ezekiel? Daryl can be there for her. While these people are hardened and at times ruthless (they have to be within this world), there is still an emotional heartbeat somewhere underneath. They value their relationships and are crushed in the event things don’t go their way.
Our feeling on Daryl and Carol moving forward is this: We could see them living out the rest of their days together. Even if they never get to a romantic level of intimacy, they still have something between them that few others would ever dare to even come close to approaching.
