Madam Secretary season 6 promo: See Elizabeth McCord as President!
If you didn’t know already, the Tea Leoni series is making the decision to flash-forward to Elizabeth’s Presidency within its final batch of episodes, giving you a better sense of who she is now as opposed to what her campaign was like. There will be opportunities to hear about it (and potentially see it), but the series is going in a very specific direction. One of the main objectives here entering the final batch of episodes was making sure that there would be an opportunity to keep the optimistic tone of the series. That means allowing for there to be a lot of moments for hope for the country, and telling a story with Elizabeth as POTUS was more conducive to doing that. She will have her staff together, Henry will be the newly-minted First Gentleman, and through this final batch of episodes there will be opportunities galore to see all sorts of struggles, both personal and professional.
When you think about sources for conflict, there’s going to be more in the final season than ever before! While Elizabeth does have the power to enact great change, simultaneously she is also going to find herself under more scrutiny. We don’t want to see her fail, but simultaneously, we know that there are a number of people who will root for that very thing. She’ll deal with stubborn parts of government, regulations, and of course other countries and diplomatic relationships.
There will be times where Madam Secretary season 6 feels like a very different show — after all, there are some big changes with the cast. Yet, in the end the skeleton is the same and we think that the overarching message is one that will continue to reverberate through no matter what.
This new season will premiere on CBS in early October.
