Magnum PI season 2 spoilers: NFL star Aaron Donald appearing

Aaron Donald may be one of the most dominant players in the entire NFL, and he also is expanding his TV resume!

In a new post on Twitter, Andrew Siciliano confirms that the Los Angeles Rams player is set to appear on an upcoming episode of Magnum PI — returning with new episodes this fall on CBS. He’s far from the first athlete to appear in the Peter Lenkov extended universe (which includes Hawaii Five-0 and MacGyver), and we’ve already seen connections to the gridiron on Magnum PI already. This guest spot is a way to bring some new viewers to the show, but for Donald at the same time to show a different side of himself.

Football sometimes can be a tough sport, mostly in that you spend almost all of your time under a helmet and because of the team nature of the game, you don’t often get to showcase your true personality. It’s separate from basketball in that way, where viewers can see your faces and you’re far more recognizable in a smaller field of participants. For Aaron, here is a chance to show more of who he is, let alone what he actually looks like. This should prove to be fun — though you could say that about Magnum PI in general. One of the trademarks for Lenkov’s shows is that they’re able to constantly offer up a balance of amusing moments with also fantastic action sequences and heartfelt drama. They pack so many different elements into a single episode and entertain you every single step of the way.

Magnum PI will air this fall on Friday nights (a brand new timeslot), where it will be paired with another Lenkov Hawaii-set show in Hawaii Five-0 and then also Blue Bloods, the gold standard of Friday-night 10:00 p.m. programming. Our hope is that the upcoming season will just give us an opportunity to dive more into all of the different characters and understand more of how they’re forming this fantastic underdog private-eye team. There’s still so much we have to learn about this world.
