Outlander season 5 notes: Filming, floods, and more teases
It’s fairly common for Scotland to get a lot of rain during the summer — think about where it lies on the map! Yet, these past couple of weeks have been unusually rainy. We’ve talked already about how everyone from Tim Downie to Caitriona Balfe has commented on the weather, and there are some reports out there about flash floods impacting some old filming locations. Check out this report from the Scottish Sun, which describes some trouble in Culross as some buildings have faced closures over the weather.
How does all of this pertain to Outlander? Think along these lines — there are going to be rumors hovering around out there that this is going to lead to some sort of delay in when the show will premiere. That’s almost certainly not going to happen. Episodes are already coming together and filming schedules prepare for things like this in advance since they know it’s going to come. Even if there are some delays on the production end, we’re talking days — not so much months on end.
Also, the sun always shines on the other side. There is a sunnier day or two coming around Glasgow, close to many Outlander filming locations. Maybe Kyle Rees’ latest photo on Twitter is symbolism for that. Remember, just because Rees posted it this week doesn’t mean that he was on set this week — it could’ve been another sunny day! Yet, we know that Kyle is coming back as John Quincy Myers for the upcoming season; that’s important, since he knows the land around Fraser’s Ridge better than almost anyone.
Filming continues to progress forward, and it remains as secretive as ever!
