Blue Bloods not ending anytime soon, per Donnie Wahlberg
In a new post on Twitter, Wahlberg discussed, in the context of saying goodbye to his other show Wahlburgers, that there are no plans to end Blue Bloods anytime soon — even though both shows are in their tenth seasons. It’s sad to say goodbye to Donnie’s other show, though it’s hardly the end of the Wahlburgers franchise since those are still spread out all over the place. They’ve got enough name value and recognition at this point that it’s hard to imagine that they will be going anywhere
As for Blue Bloods, the decision in regards to the series’ future goes beyond just whatever Donnie wants — CBS has a say in it, as do the rest of the cast and crew. Yet, we have not heard from any source out there that there is an interest in shutting down the show in the near future. It’s still enormously successful on CBS, it has a devoted following, and perhaps more than this it’s hard to imagine any other show out there being able to overtake this timeslot and perform anywhere near as well. We could see this show lasting for a number of years depending on what the cast wants to do — even on the heels of a polarizing season 9 finale (we wanted more of the wedding!), there’s still so much about this to love.
Moving into Blue Bloods season 10, for example, we have a feeling that we’re going to get a great chance to see Donnie’s character of Danny Reagan figure out some of his next steps in life. We know that his kids are getting older and he no longer is wearing his wedding ring. While there is no guarantee that Danny moves forward in his romantic life, he doesn’t need to in order to be an interesting character. We just want there to be challenges and chances for Donnie to flex his muscles as a dramatic actor.
