Yellowstone season 2 episode 7 preview: ‘Resurrection Day’

Want to know what is coming up on Yellowstone season 2 episode 7? While the folks over at the Paramount Network are not saying much prior to Wednesday’s new episode airing, they don’t have to in order for you to realize that this is very much a big deal.

What we are talking about here, is a story that carries with it the title of “Resurrection Day.” That can mean so many different things — maybe it’s a representation of Easter, maybe it’s about finding some element of spiritual absolution, or in this case, maybe it is something a little bit more specific. Maybe this is a mere reference to the problems of Jamie Dutton’s past resurrecting themselves in front of his very eyes. Maybe this is the ghost of Sarah Nguyen staring him right in the face and saying “boo.”

We understand that there are other problems permeating the world of Yellowstone at the moment, including the presence of Malcolm Beck and the battles that are taking place over the oh-so-valuable land. Yet, there is one problem that is the most critical and, therefore, the most most worth looking at — how Jamie moves forward following this murder. He killed another human being and that is not something you take back. Before killing her, the chief narrative around Jamie was that he was this thin-skinned member of the family, someone who was not going to be capable of doing some of the brutal things that needed to be done in order to ensure the safety of his family. He murdered Sarah in an act of desperation — it was not premeditated or planned. It was just something that happened. On the other side of this, he has to figure out how to move forward and live with something like this … and we don’t know if he can. There may not be any resurrection for the future that Jamie Dutton once had.

There’s a part of us that feels like Jamie is going to finish the season behind bars and he really should — while we’re able to enjoy the stories of morally-ambiguous people sometimes on television, Jamie’s a straight up murderer who killed someone in cold blood. It’s hard to root for his survival or to have any sympathy for him. There’s another part of us who feels like Jamie finishes this season dead and we wouldn’t be shocked if that’s how it played out.
